Who can join The Celebrant Guild?

Membership is open to trained celebrants who hold certification from a recognised celebrant training organisation. Different membership tiers have specific requirements based on experience level and professional standing.

What's the difference between The Celebrant Guild and The Celebrant Directory?

The Celebrant Directory is now an exclusive benefit of Guild membership, rather than a standalone service. All Guild members receive directory listings based on their membership tier, along with comprehensive professional support, community access, and ongoing development opportunities.

Membership Tiers

What are the membership tiers?

We offer three membership levels:

Associate Member (£25/month): For newly qualified celebrants beginning their professional journey
Professional Member (£35/month): For established celebrants with 20+ ceremonies and professional websites
Fellow Member (£45/month): For distinguished celebrants with 30+ annual ceremonies and comprehensive online presence. This tier is by application or referral only.

What are the requirements for each tier?

Associate: Training certification required
Professional: Training certification, 20+ ceremonies (proof through 10 reviews), professional website, 1 active social media account
Fellow: Training certification, 30+ ceremonies in the last year (proof through 20 reviews), professional website, 2 active social media accounts. Our Fellow membership is reserved for celebrants who meet our high standards and set requirements - you may apply for this tier or be referred by someone else.

Can I upgrade my membership tier?

Absolutely! Once you meet the requirements for a higher tier, you can upgrade immediately. We encourage professional growth and provide clear pathways for advancement.

What happens if I no longer meet the requirements for my tier?

We work with members to maintain their professional standing. If circumstances change, we offer support and guidance to help you meet requirements or transition to an appropriate tier without penalty.

The Hive Community

What is The Hive?

The Hive is our vibrant member community where celebrants connect, share resources, seek advice, and support each other. It's available 24/7 and includes specialty channels, regional groups, and regular networking events.

How active is The Hive community?

The Hive buzzes with daily activity, from script reviews and business advice to celebration of member wins. We host weekly themed discussions, monthly networking sessions, and regular "Get Unstuck" surgery sessions.

Can I connect with celebrants in my area?

Yes! The Hive includes regional channels where you can connect with local celebrants for meetups, collaboration, and mutual support. Many members arrange coffee meetings and ceremony shadowing opportunities.

Directory & Visibility

How does The Celebrant Directory listing work?

Your directory listing is included with membership and varies by tier:

Associate: 1 country, 3 locations
Professional: 2 countries, 6 locations
Fellow: 5 countries, 15 locations plus homepage promotion twice yearly

How quickly will my listing go live?

Your directory profile will be live once you've activated it with your special activation code. You can then personalise it with photos, testimonials, and detailed service information.

Can I update my listing myself?

Yes! You have full control over your directory profile through your member dashboard on www.thecelebrantdirectory.com directly, allowing you to update photos, descriptions, availability, and contact information at any time.

How do I amend/renew to my membership before my free trial is over?

If you are on an annual membership subscription, you'll receive an email one month before to let you know your membership is up for renewal. It will renew at the current rate up until December 2025. After December 2025, your annual renewal will be charged at the rate of the Guild.

Insurance Coverage

Who is covered by the insurance?

All UK affiliated members of The Celebrant Guild are covered as additional insureds under our comprehensive group policy.

What insurance coverage is included?

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Limit: £1,000,000 per claim
Excess: £1,000
Coverage: Worldwide (excluding USA/Canada)
Covers: Negligence, breach of confidentiality, defamation, intellectual property infringement, dishonesty by employees/subcontractors, professional disciplinary proceedings, personal data claims (up to £250,000)

Public & Products Liability

Limit: £5,000,000 per claim
Excess: £250 (property damage only)
Coverage: UK and EU only
Covers: Bodily injury or property damage to third parties, defamation and intellectual property rights (up to £1,000,000), limited pollution cover

Employers' Liability

Limit: £10,000,000 per claim including costs
Coverage: Worldwide (claims must be brought in UK/Isle of Man/Channel Islands)
Covers: Injury or illness to volunteers or staff members, legal costs for claims or representation

Crisis Containment

Limit: £25,000 total
Coverage: UK, Republic of Ireland, Channel Islands & Isle of Man
Covers: Emergency PR support to mitigate reputational harm

How do I access my insurance certificate?

Your insurance certificate is available immediately in your member dashboard under "Documents." You can download and share this with venues or clients as needed.

Professional Development

What CPD opportunities are available?

Guild members have access to monthly CPD sessions, creative workshops, business masterclasses, and our annual CelebrantTopia event. Professional and Fellow members receive enhanced CPD access and discounted event tickets.

Do you offer one-on-one coaching?

Yes! All members receive discounts on individual coaching sessions with experienced celebrant mentors. Associate members receive 10% discount, while Professional and Fellow members receive 20-30% discounts respectively.

What resources are included?

Members have access to comprehensive template libraries including contracts, ceremony frameworks, client questionnaires, and business documents. The level of access varies by membership tier.

Billing & Administration

How is membership billed?

You can choose monthly (£25/£35/£45) or annual billing (£250/£350/£450) with annual billing offering two months free. Payments are processed automatically, and you can update your billing information in your member dashboard.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards, as well as direct debit for UK members. International members can pay via credit card or PayPal.

Can I pause or cancel my membership?

You can cancel your membership at any time with 30 days' notice. We don't offer pauses, but we do work with members facing temporary difficulties to find suitable solutions.

What happens to my directory listing if I cancel?

Your directory listing will be removed within 48 hours of membership cancellation. However, you can rejoin at any time and your profile information will be retained for 12 months.

Technical Support

How do I access my member dashboard?

You'll receive login details within 24 hours of joining. If you experience any issues accessing your account, contact our support team through email [email protected].

Is there a mobile app?

Yes...coming soon! Our mobile app allows you to access The Hive community, the resource library, courses and events we put on, and connect with fellow members on the go. Download links are available in your member dashboard. The app will be launched in mid July.

What if I need technical help?

Our support team is available Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM UK time. For urgent issues outside business hours, email [email protected] and we'll respond within 24 hours.

Special Circumstances

I'm a current Celebrant Directory member - what happens to me?

Current The Celebrant Directory members are automatically grandfathered into the Guild for 6 months at no additional cost. LITE members become Associate members, FLY members become Professional members, while MAX members become Fellow members during the transition period.

What will happen to my membership of The Celebrant Directory?

As a member of The Guild you shall continue to remain a member of The Celebrant Directory.

Can international celebrants join?

Absolutely! While some benefits (like certain insurance coverage) are UK-focused, international celebrants are welcome and receive full community access, international directory listings, and relevant professional development opportunities.
