1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your membership and use of services provided by The Celebrant Directory Ltd trading as The Celebrant Guild ("we", "us", "our", "the Guild"), a company registered in England and Wales (Company Number: 11759599).
By joining The Celebrant Guild or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not join or use our services.
2. Definitions
"Member" means an individual who has paid for and maintains an active membership with The Celebrant Guild.
"Services" means all services provided by The Celebrant Guild, including but not limited to membership benefits, The Hive community, The Celebrant Directory listings, insurance coverage, professional development, and related services.
"The Hive" means our online community platform for Guild members.
"Directory" means The Celebrant Directory, our online directory service for celebrants.
"Content" means any information, data, text, images, videos, or other materials posted or shared through our Services.
3. Membership
3.1 Eligibility
To be eligible for membership, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Hold a valid certificate from a recognised celebrant training organisation, or otherwise demonstrate the requisite knowledge and skills
- Provide accurate and complete information during registration
- Meet the specific requirements for your chosen membership tier
3.2 Membership Tiers
We offer three membership tiers:
Associate Member: For newly qualified celebrants (£25/month or £250/year)
Professional Member: For established celebrants with 20+ ceremonies (£35/month or £350/year)
Fellow Member: For distinguished celebrants with 30+ annual ceremonies (£45/month or £450/year)
3.3 Membership Requirements
You must maintain the qualifications and requirements for your membership tier. If you no longer meet these requirements, we may move you to an appropriate tier or, in cases of significant non-compliance, terminate your membership.
3.4 Membership Benefits
Benefits vary by tier and are detailed on our website. We reserve the right to modify benefits with reasonable notice to members.
4. Payment Terms
4.1 Fees
Membership fees are charged monthly or annually as selected during registration. Annual payments receive a discount equivalent to two months free.
4.2 Payment Methods
We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and direct debit (UK members). All payments are processed securely through our payment partners.
4.3 Billing
Monthly memberships are billed on the same date each month
Annual memberships are billed on your anniversary date
All fees are non-refundable except as required by law
Failed payments may result in suspension of membership benefits
4.4 Price Changes
We may change membership fees with at least 30 days' written notice. Existing members will be notified via email and through their member dashboard.
4.5 Cooling-Off & Digital Content Waiver
In line with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you may cancel your membership within 14 days of first purchase for a full refund.
Important: by downloading or streaming any member-only digital content (including templates, videos or course materials) during this 14-day period you expressly request immediate supply and acknowledge that your statutory right to cancel is lost once the download or stream begins.
4.6 Automatic Renewal Transparency
All monthly and annual memberships auto-renew until cancelled. Your card will be charged on each renewal date at the then-current rate for your tier. You can cancel renewal at any time in your online account or by emailing us at least 3 working days before the next billing date.
4.7 Free & Trial Periods
Free or promotional trial memberships convert to paid plans at the price displayed at checkout unless cancelled before the trial end-date. We will email a reminder at least 3 days before any first charge is taken.
5. The Celebrant Directory
5.1 Directory Listings
All members receive directory listings based on their membership tier. You are responsible for maintaining accurate information in your listing.
5.2 Content Standards
Directory content must be:
Accurate and truthful
Professional and appropriate
Compliant with advertising standards
Free from discriminatory language
Your own original content or properly licensed
5.3 Review and Moderation
We reserve the right to review, edit, or remove directory content that violates these Terms or our community standards.
6. The Hive Community
6.1 Community Guidelines
The Hive is a professional community. Members must:
Treat all members with respect and courtesy
Share constructively and professionally
Respect confidentiality and privacy
Avoid promotional or commercial content unless specifically permitted
Report inappropriate behaviour to moderators
We reserve the right to cancel membership should members not adhere to the above guidelines
6.2 Content Ownership
You retain ownership of content you post in The Hive, but grant us a licence to display, distribute, and moderate such content as necessary for providing the service.
6.3 Prohibited Conduct
The following behaviours may result in warnings, suspension, or termination:
Harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behaviour
Sharing confidential client information
Posting misleading or false information
Commercial solicitation without permission
Violation of intellectual property rights
6.4 Professional Conduct & Complaints
The Guild reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to warn, suspend or terminate membership where conduct is deemed unprofessional, unethical or damaging to the community. Members may appeal any decision within 14 days by emailing [email protected]
7. Insurance Coverage
7.1 Insurance Benefits
Members receive group insurance coverage as detailed in our insurance documentation. Coverage varies by membership tier and geographical location.
7.2 Claims Process
Insurance claims must be reported immediately using our designated claims process. Members must cooperate fully with claims investigations.
7.3 Insurance Limitations
Insurance coverage is subject to policy terms, conditions, and exclusions as provided by our insurance partners. We do not guarantee coverage for all situations.
7.4 Regulatory Status
Insurance is arranged and underwritten by Hiscox Insurance Company Limited, and administered by Howden Insurance Brokers Limited, both of which are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The Celebrant Guild is not an appointed representative and acts solely as an introducer; we do not provide insurance advice, arrange cover, or handle claims.
8. Professional Development
8.1 CPD and Training
We provide various professional development opportunities. Participation is voluntary unless specifically required for membership tier maintenance.
8.2 Continuing Education Requirements
Certain membership tiers may require ongoing professional development. Failure to meet these requirements may affect your membership status.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Our Rights
The Guild name, logo, trademarks, and all website content are our intellectual property. You may not use our branding without written permission.
9.2 Member Content
You warrant that content you provide is original or properly licensed. You grant us a licence to use your content for Guild promotional purposes.
9.3 Templates and Resources
Guild-provided templates and resources are for member use only and may not be redistributed or commercialised without permission.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
10.1 Data Collection
We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
10.2 Member Directory
By joining, you consent to your information being displayed in The Celebrant Directory and shared with potential clients.
10.3 Communication
We may contact you regarding your membership, Guild updates, and relevant professional information.
11. Termination
11.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your membership at any time with 30 days' written notice. Termination takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
11.2 Termination by Us
We may terminate your membership immediately for:
Breach of these Terms
Violation of community guidelines
Fraudulent or illegal activity
Non-payment of fees
Behaviour detrimental to the Guild or its members
11.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
Your directory listing will be removed
Access to The Hive and member resources will cease
Insurance coverage will end
No refunds will be provided except as required by law
12. Disclaimers and Limitations
12.1 Service Availability
We strive to maintain continuous service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend services for maintenance or improvements.
12.2 Third-Party Services
Our Services may include third-party integrations. We are not responsible for third-party service failures or terms.
12.3 Professional Advice
Guild resources and community discussions do not constitute professional legal, financial, or business advice. Consult qualified professionals for specific advice.
12.4 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for membership in the 12 months preceding any claim.
12.5 Insurance Provider Liability
We are not liable for any refusal by the insurer to provide cover or pay a claim. Your sole remedy in such circumstances is against the insurer.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising from:
Your use of our Services
Your celebrant practice and services
Your violation of these Terms
Your infringement of third-party rights
14. Dispute Resolution
14.1 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by English law, and disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of English courts.
14.2 Initial Resolution
We encourage members to contact us directly to resolve any issues before pursuing formal legal action.
14.3 Mediation
For significant disputes, we may agree to mediation through a recognised mediation service.
14.4 Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)
If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, either party may refer the matter to the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) for mediation.
14.5 EU Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)
Consumers resident in the EU may also submit complaints via the European Commission’s ODR platform at https://ec.europa.eu/odr.
15. General Provisions
15.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and other referenced policies, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Celebrant Guild.
15.2 Amendment
We may amend these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated with at least 30 days' notice.
15.3 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
15.4 Assignment
You may not assign your membership or these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations with reasonable notice.
15.5 Force Majeure
We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, epidemic, pandemic, government restrictions, labour disputes, power failures or internet outages.
15.6 Jurisdiction Notice for Non-UK Members
If you access the Services from outside the United Kingdom you are responsible for compliance with local laws. This contract is governed exclusively by English law and the English courts shall have jurisdiction.
